I just got this notice of a new semester long study abroad program– the deadline is perhaps a little early for this year, but it’s one to keep an eye on in the future!
In the fall semester of 2011, Rhodes College is planning to debut a new semester-long study-abroad program in Catania, Sicily, which will be led by Professor David Sick. This is a collaborative effort between Rhodes, CET Programs, and the University of Catania. The curriculum will focus on ancient Greek and Roman culture and the classical tradition in Italy, but will also offer courses in other subjects such as geology and international studies. Students will also be able to take the Sunoikisis Latin course, Latin Literature from 70 to 180 CE. The faculty aim to build upon the work of our colleagues with the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies who organized the excellent program in the same location a few years ago. Participation by non-Rhodes students is welcome. For more information and the application form, go to http://www.rhodes.edu/19910.asp. Applications are due by February 15.
