Capitoline Venus

Capitoline Venus visits the National Gallery, DC

Dr. Pasco-Pranger got to visit with the “Capitoline Venus” in Washington DC last month. The statue is based on a Greek original by Praxiteles that dates to around 360 B.C. The Capitoline Venus has left Rome only once before, seized by Napoleon in 1797 and carried to Paris.
